Return to Innocence

This is a song by Enigma which looks as good as it sounds as the entire video is a rewind and it has been one of my favorite songs for a very long time. Everytime I come across an article which advises us to eat complex carbohydrates (whole whear bread, brown rice etc), do yoga and meditation and studies about alternate fuel and electricity sources, I am reminded of this song.
The industrial revolution has depleted the Earth of its natural resources and the 'good life' along with the pollution generated by industrialization has depleted our health. The oil they say will last us only for 20 more years, the levels of oceans all around have risen by a few inches in the last 20 years, the ozone layer has depleted considerably, ground water contamination due to toxic land fills and use of fertilizers leads to chemical filled fruits and vegetables and unsafe drinking water. The use and throw culture leads to tonnes of garbase, paper is shredded, torn and wasted without a thought for the trees that were cut down to make them, forests are decreasing, plants and animals are becoming extinct and greenery in urban areas is compromised.
We are a race who are living for the moment without a thought for tomorrow. We have a new gadget for personal use every few months and upgrades to existing ones every few days. With so many brilliant minds around, is it that difficult to make cars run on water and generate sustainable amounts electricity from wind and the Sun or bring nuclear fusion out of the laboratory into day to day needs?
Eventually the dynamics will force us to rewind and relearn a better way of progress, in the meanwhile we can try reuse, recycle and find simpler ways of living which are not environmentally costly.

Yup... we can all follow the 'simple life' as pioneered by the two great friends of green earth!1 :-)

But isnt it all a part of a cycle??

Just hope that I am not arnd when nature does the next self correction.

@Indianpeppone: I am first - who's the second??? True - its a cycle but I am kinda worried that all th eproperty I own is in the coastal region which will eventually sink. Does wonders for my investment!!

I think, we will now evolve to a different species with changing climates and environment.

Btw a Fact "70% of all things in India is recycled"

I guess the mentality of the people is that they always wait for the worst case scenario. for example take a normal college kid. he wont touch his books till the eve of the exam, and on that night, he'll pull his brains out mugging for the test, how he fares at that test is a totally different issue.
I guess the same can be said about nature and environment. Though we have people trying to help, their numbers is like mosquito bite in this massive body of 6 billion plus.
Just like someone from the above comments said "Just hope that I am not arnd when nature does the next self correction". i'm not judging him/her. No . Prolly most of us will agree him him, no one wants to live in a world where oxygen masks are mandatory or where there is no oil left.I'm merely saying that this is how we are. Though we all say its never too late to change, i wonder, does it imply here as well? Is it always never too late?

And correct me if i'm wrong,
I think when Mr Peppone was referring to Paris Hilton and Nicole richie . If he was, then all I have to say is "hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha"

@Albatross: Yes - that one is good too. Pity he stopped singing

@Kausum: Back to US? Guess all the bad air and water will force us to evolve - I dont think we'll look better! Yes thats true but we need to think fast.

@Rishabh: Yes the last moent is a phenomenon we cant seem to avoid. We can do a few things at our level - I'll write about that in my next post maybe.

@Rishabh & Indianpeppone: Ah! THOSE two great ladies!
